My black 1995.5 seems to develop hairline gray scratches in it. Nothing a
black Sharpie (TM) marker and a coat of Zymoil can't fix. They don't go

You can install the Clarion 6-disc to the Clarion head unit, with the
appropriate adapter cable. The GLX may have the Bose system, and I don't
know about that. I installed the VW changer in my own car. The only
catch is you have to remove the radio from the dash, and need the
anti-theft removal tools to do it. I used heavy clothes hangar wire to
make my own tool, and others have reported success with allen wrenches in
each hole. My suggestion is that you gegotiate the changer into
your deal. My dealer gave it to me at cost ($405) if I installed it
myself. By the time you get the Clarion unit and the adapter cable,
you're saving maybe $50, and the VW unit says VW on it and is financed.

There is no larger throttle body option for the 1996/7 VR6. The chassis
warranty is only 2/24K miles, so you don't have to worry about losing much
even if VW decides to void that because of the springs/exhaust. As for
the other two parts, the dealer has to prove that they caused the damage
before denying your warranty claim. There is a question about how much of
an increase you'll see from these parts anyway, so you can keep reading
the debate and save your money. Dave Bram was by here the other day, and
his Autotech exhaust sure does sound nice outside the car. I've never had
a ride in his car, so I don't know how it sounds inside. The Leistritz
system on my old 16V used to sound good outside too, but I couldn't hear
the phone ringing inside over it on the highway. Test listen to somebody
else's car before you buy an exhaust. Thank me later.

"Ask Mike" says that 215/45/16 on a 16x7 inch rim is his suggestion. He
also says that 215/40/17 is the ideal 17 inch size, but recommends
215/45/17 on a 17x7.5 inch rim - and it's close to rubbing. These are the
GTI VR6 figures. Who knows about the Jetta GLX?

Are these the HOLLOW Autotech swaybars? The front factory bar is solid
and the rear hollow on the GTI VR6. Compare apples to apples. The VW
front bar is pretty flexible, so maybe you are. :-)

Depends where you live. My own personal view is that the scum will break
the window if they want what's in the car, and the factory alarm system
will sit there and do nothing. Popping the door handle will set off the
alarm. If I wanted to get into your car, I'd grab one of those $3.99 dent
remover suction cups from NAPA, wet it, slap it to your window, and see if
the power window actuator assembly can withstand 200 pounds of downward
force. I'm surprised that criminals haven't thought of this already.
Maybe the suction cup would slide before enough force is achieved?

AMS sells a remote keyless system compatible with the VW alarm, and it has
glass breakage and other options available.

hate to say it, but I think that my web site has more information on the
main page than VWofA's whole site does. I have received exactly one

say that much.....
