I was going to say...when i got my OZ Montes done in black a few years ago it
cost me $300 for the set. So that price is good as long as it includes
cleaning and removing clearcoat and all prep and finishing work.

Damn, that is good pricing. I have a price sheet in front of me which lists
it as $65 a wheel (includes stripping, cleaning, powder coat, clear coat?
and baking). Multiple colors were additional charges. I would probably want
to see some of the work he has done and see how well it holds up.

The place that does it *IS* the place to go in my area. I've seen their
work, REAL NICE. :) They race a lot and do a TON of powder coating. When
I went into the place, they had a large frame of some type of racing
machine, powder coated a gloss blue. It was SHARP!

Now, these prices are for them to just powder coat the stuff. We take care
of all the sandblasting, since I know someone who will do it for nothing.

The one question I have is how do they do multiple colors? You can't
re-cook something that was already coated, so how do they get that messy
stuff on there in multiple colors?

As many of you know, my "real" job is metal fabrication (sheet metal, wire
forming, tubing, welding, assembly, etc.), and we have our own plating and
powdercoating lines (fluidized bed, and electrostatic spray) in-house.
Powdercoating of wheels would be electrostatic spray, and oven temps are 350
degrees F to 500 degrees F (usually 400-450). The oven temps depend on
powder type. Anyhow, these are hardly temperatures that'll heat treat the
alloys and change thier molecular structure. However, those temps will
damage wet paint. Anyhow, long story short, to properly powder coat a rim,
they have to be bare metal (either have them bead blasted, hand sanded,
whatever). It's also worth noting that powder coating is a durable surface,
but is subject to getting cut. Anyone having tires mounted must make sure
they have newer "low contact" mounting machines, as the edge would be subject
to wear on an older tire mounting machine.
Usual power coating color for rims is flat black. Anyhow, if there's
interest, I could have my estimating staff figure out some pricing to do a
group of rims, especially if it's a standard color.

I can get wheels powder coated any color for 85 bucks each. It will
take a week to turn them around, not including shipping time(which would
cost you extra). Polishing the lip is extra, I would say at least 30
bucks per wheel on a tiny lip like the factory wheels. Aftermarket
wheels with a wide lip would cost more.

I can also get intakes powder coated for 65 bucks. Polished runners and
powder coated for 175.

Pretty much anything can be done, just e-mail with your needs. This is
high quality stuff. This shop has had Harley's on the cover of Easy
Rider, they know their sh*t.

Sorry for the SPAM, but I have had a lot of requests.
