I used the archives as well when I was attempting to tighten up the the
brake lever, but also with no luck. Here's what I did:
[I found it best to move your front seats all the way forward and do it from
the backseat.]
Park on level ground and release the parking brake. Remove ash tray. Next
remove the two circular plastic inserts on the sides of the parking brake
cover. This will expose two screws. Remove them. You should now be able to
pop up the cover and see the insides. From this point on removing the
parking lever boot should be self-evident. If you need to tighten the the
cables like I did, remove the metal protective bracket (two philips screws
and two 8mm nuts I think), then make any adjustments to the cables with a
10mm wrench and some pliers. Done!
Hope that helps,
