What size tires do you have? I also have SSR Comp's, but 17x7.5 ET35 and
225/45-17 tires. No rubbing issues at all with Bilstein/H&R sports. Do you
also have spacers? Does the rubbing occur in the front of the car or the
rear?

Hi all;

I've been running SSR Comp 17x8 (ET35) wheels + Bridgestone S-03s for a
while now. Great combination, and about the only thing that fits over
Stoptechs on the Mk4. Only problem is running -- I'm running Neuspeed
Sport Springs and Bilstein Sport Shocks. If i'm carrying passengers,
occasionally I'll get rubbing.. I notice the One Lap GTI uses a similar
setup, and was wondering what you did to take care of the rubbing? Or
does your car even have enough suspension travel to still rub? :)

Any info appreciated!

Thanks,
Erik

Erik, Funny...your last statement is about the Truth ;-)

What size tires are you running? The 225/45/17? We ran 235-40-17(smaller
overall diameter...think it was 24.4 compared to 24.8/24.9) That could be
your issue. Running Spacers? We ran a 5mm in the rear too.

Here's a pic of my car "LOADED DOWN" on the 1 Lap.
http://www.parts4vws.com/images/members/Potterman/DSC01907.jpg

We had 3 people, 3 NOS Bottles(2-usually full ;-) ), All of our luggage,
Full size Spare, Tools, Floor Jack & Stand, Extra parts(P/S lines, coil
packs, brakes, MAF, Etc....thought you'd get a kick from the list of parts
we took), 2 laptops, Camera's, & a cooler.....needless to say it was loaded
down.

We didn't have rubbing problems but it really could be the Suspension that
helps me not rub.

Oh right. I guess one important parameter would have been the tire size.
:) They are 225/45R17 though. I _think_ I get rubbing in the front, I
_definitely_ get rubbing in the back. I'm not entirely sure _what_ it's
rubbing on though -- either the fender lip, or the inner fender lining.

I might have to put some shoe polish or something on a couple possible
contact points, load up the car with fat people, and drive over some
bumps.

Thanks,
-Erik
