I had a split boot on my A1 GTI that I decided to put on when I didn't have time to do it right. All though
it held up, I would never recommend putting a split boot over a solid boot. If you do decide to use one, take
your time, keep things clean so that crappy glue works, and do what the directions tell you to do. I have
never done a axle in an A3 but the A1 was cake and so was an A2 jetta. Make sure that you get the correct
socket for the cv bolts. You should be able to attach that to an air rachet if you have one. If the car is
lifted, it shouldn't take you more than an hour to take the axle apart far enough to get the boot on.

shawn
