Hi all,
I just finished installing my ball joints. Wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. The right
joint did need a little persuasion from an air powered 'pickle fork'. The left side spun while I
was loosening the nut so it practically fell out. The biggest problem was trying to get the
unbolted joints out without disconnecting the CV's like the Bentley suggests. It can be done! Just
be careful not to hyperextend your inner CV's. The 6mm internal hex in the ball joint shaft can not
be accessed with a 'standard' sized hex key. I had to cut one down so I could fish it in under the
axle stub. Unfortunately it is necessary to have this tool to stop the shaft from spinning when you
re-install the new self-locking nut. Once the shaft takes a bite on it's interface with the bearing
housing it isn't really necessary anymore.
Now all I need is an alignment and I'm set!
