All,
Lately (last two days) my baby seems to have developed a tendency to fight
back when I try to shift to third. Now, about a month and a half ago, when
I took it in for the first oil change, the shifter was pretty sloppy; not
much feedback. After I picked the car up, it felt a lot tighter, and (I
think) had less vibration. Neither of these things were an issue, so I
figured I must've got a free fix of some sort. At any rate, with my new
tight shifter, I soon developed a difficulty shifting into second; kind of
like the first or reverse gear lockouts. Forcing it in wouldn't result in
grinding, but generally I'd just put it back in neutral and into second and
it'd work fine. Very sparodic.
Anyhow, now I don't really get the problem with second anymore, but with
third. I'll go to shift into third, and it just won't shift w/o excessive
force or popping it back into neutral and then trying third again. It's
much more frequent now, however. At least once or twice per trip, and not
being able to get into third really pisses me off coming out of some
corners at high speed. :)
Any suggestions? I'll be going to the dealer soon for the 15K(km) service
and having them fix that. As well as my sticking passenger side door and
rough idle :). Just curious if anyone has any suggestions as I'm sure the
dealer will keep the car for at least a day and come up with nothing. Who
knows, maybe I'll get one of the Audi loaners..
