I think that if you jack the car up and put a pry bar between the lower
control arm and the sway bar and you move it up and down and there is play
in the joint the ball joint is no good.
When the car is down on the ground you can tell if the strut bushing is no
good if there is more than 1/8" space between the strut plate and the strut
tower.
