Huh? Who told you that the H&R springs would be the same for a VR6 as
they are for a 4-banger?

Yes, H&R lists the same spring set for both the 4cyl and VR6 A3s (as long as
they have the smaller upper spring perch, started in 96.5 on 4cyl with intro
of VR6 style strut bearings): pn# 54748.  Lowering amounts are identical at
1.4"F and 1.3"R.  When first ordering from them, I was concerned this may be a
misprint.  They assured me it was not.
Unsimilarly, the G60 and SLC have different part numbers: 54706 and 54707, so
the extra weight of the VR6 engine seems to be a factor with the A2 chassis
according to H&R.
BTW, I have 3 A3 sets in stock if anyone is looking...
