It says that the car has Audi TT control arms. What's the purpose? How are
they different?

The TT arms are Cast(not stamped)so they are stiffer & have sliding ball
joints to give you some negative camber. The only thing you can't run is a
front sway bar but if you noticed we just ran high front spring rates to
make up for it...but without the front bar it keeps the inside wheel from
lifting in a corner & you losing traction.

They are $425 for the set w/ ball joints. They fit all MKIV's.

Wow, are they worth it for a daily driver or are they really only going to
make a difference on the track?

Well...depends. On a VR with the heavy front end you really need some stiff
springs to keep the nose from diving & most people for the street could not
tolerate the setup on my car(it's pretty stiff) On the track it's a
beast...I love it. I mostly did the arms for the added negative camber since
the MKIV have no adjustment & without some negative camber the car will not
turn in good.(from the testing I've done)Another part of the setup is having
a Quaife...that is a big part of pulling you through the corners.

I first tried the car with 585# front springs, stock diff, No front bar, no
rear bar & stock camber.....it was okay...but at the limit it would push
badly & that's with Kuhmo race tires. I really had to feather the car
through the corners...now it's really just point...&....shoot out. The arms
themselves are a good upgrade but without the rest of the stuff I feel your
not really getting the most from it that you could.
