Dear Steve,
My son and I just replaced his P/s pump on his 92 Vr6
Corrado. There's not a whole lot to it. You remove
the belt cover(all of this is underneath), put a 13mm
3" threaded bolt into the belt tension reliever(well
this is above), release the belt tension. Before that
loosen the P/s banjo connector at the pump until you
have a solid drool of P/s fluid draining into a
can/bottle, etc. When the fluid stops, remove the
infeed line(hose clamp) and drain it too. Undo the 6
13mm bolts(3 on each side) that hold the pump to the
motor. Remove serpentine belt, remove pump, swap the
pully from the old to the new.(6 or 8mm hex drive
bolts) Installation is the reverse of disassembly. Be
sure to get VW certified P/s fluid on refill. The pump
on the Corrado ran $250 with a $50 core cost. We
replaced the belt at the same time. It will make a
racket while it is self priming; I preprimed by
loosening the banjo fitting again after reassembly and
new fluid added.
George
