You didn't blow another one, did ya? <g>

The 1997 Bentley is pretty lacking in this respect; it does not cover
tranny internals at all. Some of the older Bentleys for the A1's and
A2's did. However, if you call Dyment Distributors at 800-216-6856,
they sell the *official* factory workshop manuals for our cars. The
whole manual set is upwards of $250, but individual sub-manuals are
available. I got the all the ones that have anything to do with
computer diagnostics for $27.00 each. I expect there's one just for the
tranny, and it's probably the same price.

So here's the deal, we all know VW techs aren't the brightest stars in
the sky but did you know they have access to very detailed step by step

process. Best part little known to the general public these publications
are available to you and me for about $15 each directly from the

The number to call is 1 800 544 8021

Don't mention my name or the mailing list when you call. You can also
request a complete list of all VW/Audi titles available, which I just
did. as you can see my list above is a little dated ( I.E. Stops at the
95 model year). I'll post G60 numbers when I get 'em!

I'm leaving on vacation at 5:00 today, see you in Seattle at the
BugNationals

Peace,

Dean, I am one of the "Not so brightest stars in the sky" I am a Master
VW/Audi technician working in a VW/Audi/Porsche dealership. The repair
manuals you mention I have every fucking one of them and even more that a
list owner can only wish for. For what's it worth . The repair manuals you
list Suck. I use them everyday. Last year VWOA released the repair
manuals on CD-Rom. The system was developed by Robert Bentley using these
same manuals. The Corrado was not included on the CD. Thank God! I am a
beta tester for Bentley and report the mistakes directly to them. The
information provided for the CD is from Germany or Mexico. VWOA has no
input as to what goes in. I had a conversation last week with the VP in
charge of periodicals at Audi of America and told him that the CD was a
good idea however the information provided was lacking and even in some
cases did not apply to US cars. I thought the Pure Bentley was more
informative and maybe they should look into that manual. As an example. The
Bentley goes into great detail in diagnosing an alarm problem. The CD has
no mention of troubleshooting.
