There are 2 stickers afixed to the metal fuel sender cover plate. One is
alisting of all the codes for the car, eng #, trans # paint and trim. As
well as the options that are installed. The other sticker is the radio
code. This sticker is removed prior to delivery and "hopefully" affixed to
the radio card in the radio manual book. During 97 and early 98 model year
the option sticker is still on the metal cover plate however the radio code
is now just placed under the pad andis wrapped in a plastic. Now VW has
changed the stickers again. The option sticker is still in the same place
however the radio code is no longer left in the car. "To prevent theft at
the Port ?" The factory is putting the radio serial number on a white
sticker and is placed in the left door opening.
