Here's the pinout of the plug. If you are looking at the socket that sticks
out of the player, the pins should be numbered in this manner:

7: ACC (?)
8: Select
9: Clock
10 BATT +B
11 Data
12 Strobe
13 Remoon (?!)

DIYers, here's your chance to save some bucks.

The header on the car is numbered if you look on the sides of the plug. Pins
5, 11, and 12 are not present. The 13 pin DIN plug should be readily
available. If you look at the male plug from the front, the pins are
numbered like this:

(car wire color) Header pin -> DIN plug pin (DP-601 cable color)

(blue) 1 -> 8 and 11 (green and orange)
(yellow) 2 -> 9 (black)
(orange) 3 -> 5 (pink)
(green) 4 -> 13 (brown)
5 x
(red) 6 -> 10 (yellow)
(white) 7 -> 1 (red in mini-coax)
(gray) 8 -> 7 (gray)
(black) 9 -> 2 and 4 (shields of mini-coax)
(violet) 10 -> 3 (white in mini-coax)
11 x
12 x

I checked these pretty carefully but I make no claims that it won't catch
your cd player on fire ( and I wish that were a joke)

I just wanted to let everyone know that the pinout and interconnect diagram
I posted a while back about how to cut and splice the DP-601 cable to the
late 1998 factory harness is 100% correct. I finally got around to soldering
the DP-601 cable to the factory wiring so I could move the changer to the
driver's side of the trunk. The extra length of the 601 cable makes it
possible to place the changer anywhere you would like in the trunk area.

Incidentally if anyone would like to buy my blitzsafe adapter cable, make me
an offer, as I no longer need it. New it goes for $20+ shipping.

andy, the DP-601 changer has a 13 pin DIN socket. The plug under the seat is
a 12 pin square header.  The instructions I posted are instructions on how
to hack the cable that comes with the  DP-601  into the factory harness of
the car.
