DIYers, here's your chance to save some bucks.
The header on the car is numbered if you look on the sides of the plug. Pins
5, 11, and 12 are not present. The 13 pin DIN plug should be readily
available. If you look at the male plug from the front, the pins are
numbered like this:

(car wire color) Header pin -> DIN plug pin (DP-601 cable color)
(blue) 1 -> 8 and 11 (green and orange)
(yellow) 2 -> 9 (black)
(orange) 3 -> 5 (pink)
(green) 4 -> 13 (brown)
5 x
(red) 6 -> 10 (yellow)
(white) 7 -> 1 (red in mini-coax)
(gray) 8 -> 7 (gray)
(black) 9 -> 2 and 4 (shields of mini-coax)
(violet) 10 -> 3 (white in mini-coax)
11 x
12 x
I checked these pretty carefully but I make no claims that it won't catch
your cd player on fire ( and I wish that were a joke)
