For those of you with that wonderful late 98 stock head unit, here's
some info. First, thanks to whomever posted the scan of the pinout of
the connector. If you look at the pinout, you'll see that there are
output pins for line outs, which are incorrectly labeled as two sets of
rear line outs. This made no sense to me, so I checked it out and sure
enough, the pinout is incorrect. The unit actually has separate front
and rear line outs (2 rear line outs would be stupid, even for VW)
I'm going to attack a few stereo shops in the area to see if I can
locate a mating connector for the plug. I took it apart and I was going
to solder wires to the back of the connector, but it seems pretty
complicated to get to. If you intend to attach wires to the inside of
the connector be prepared to take the whole thing apart!
more to come as I figure it out!
