I, Uncle Wally, went through the "great plug hunt" for quite some time and
have some interesting (or not so) information to share regarding this.
The stock NGKs are BKR-5-EKU, and they are a dual electrode plug. Cool. Go
to the NGK plug place, and they've never heard of that. Not cool. They want
us to buy (and the NGK book says) an NGK plug with the number ZFR6F-11. I
buy that kind. Get home, it's a *singe* electrode. Hmm. I figure, well the
NGK book says so......and put 'em in.
Didn't like 'em. Felt that car ran differently, and hotter. That fan that
stays on in the Summer would be on in situations I thought it shouldn't
(and it's Winter). So, I thought I'd get some Bosch stuff.
Go to the Bosch store. Guy only has the Platinums. OK. But those.
Hmmm.....single electrode. Dig up old e-mail from Bosch that someone posted
to the list. Ah-ha, Bosch themselves does not recommend the Platinums for
our cars. OK, bring the Bosch's back for a refund.
Call Autotech, they send the Bosch coppers, with the part number FR8-LDC.
And hey, open the box, and it's a DUAL ELECTRODE spark plug . Very cool.
Put 'em in, car runs great!!
FYI.
