The OBDI chips are only up to 02 on the revisions with 03 pending (OBDII
has 10? pending)...and no, I haven't upgraded...yet ;) I'm waiting for
the 03 chip. Apparently the G-man has redone his software and is getting
great results on both chips. He's STILL finding more torque! AFAIK, the
OBDII cars have been showing greater differences between revisions, but
I think much of that has to do with the mucho tweaking involved with II
vs I (perhaps the OBDI chips could go more radical from the start?).

Ted,

I would like to offer my opinion of the chip, although I have a 95
(OBD-I). First a little background. It took me awhile to get a chip,
as I didn't think it was worth risking my warranty. I had also driven a
95 GTI with K&N/airbox mods, Euro T-body, and Neuspeed P-chip. Compared
to my airbox mods-only car, the performance actually decreased. So I
didn't think a chip was worth it. All the Garrett hype and a perusal of
his website persuaded me to give it a try. The first chip actually took
away some of the car's low end power and throttle response. The next
chip was much improved. Same low-end as stock, and the car kept pulling
after 5500 rpm. This was what I was looking for. I have spent a bit of
time above 5000 rpm (on track driving school-very fun), and the stock
setup just ran out of breath at 5500 rpm. With the Garrett chip, it
just keeps pulling. As far as throttle response goes, I got good enough
response with the stock chip, and the G-chip didn't improve it, really.

I've also driven a stock 98 GTI VR6, and it doesn't have the low end and
the throttle response like mine. But the brakes were badass!!

Sorry for the long answer,

Randy
