Hi, I'm a newbie here on the list and would like to find some
information that I couldn't get off of the list website. I recently
bought a 97 gti vr6 and the check engine light came on. I bought
the obdII checker tool, which worked great! I had a code that came up:

1 DTCs Found:
16795 - Secondary Air Inj. System: Incorrect Flow Detected
       35-00 - -

I did take it to a shop, before I got the checker, which did some kind
of minor test and reset the code, then the check engine light came on
again yesterday. Last night, I reset the code, and it came on today.
If anyone has any ideas of where to look for this fault, please let me
know, thanks! Reading the ecu modules, there were also some misfires.
I found one module that had misfires /map misfires /actual. Actual
misfires ranged from 11.3 to 37.9 /s 2480rpm. Are these normal?

I need to get that fault code fixed pronto to pass the obd emissions
testing here in Washington state.

Thanks,
Geoff

First thing to check is the fuse. Both my 97 and my friend's 99 had fuses
which corroded to pieces. We both drove our cars in the winter (in the land
of the salt). This prevents the pump from running when it should (on a cold
start). It's a 30A flat bar fuse that sits on the front of a relay marked
111. It's usually behind the driver's headlight or closer to the battery on
later models. If it's bad get a new one from the dealer for a dollar, or
temporarily jump it with a small wire if you know what you're doing with
electrics.

If it's good, does the pump run at all? Open the hood and listen to the
engine when you cold start it. You should hear it whine for a minute or
less depending on how cold it is.
