I have installed the Autoloc VW3760 remote keyless entry module on my '95
GTI VR6. This module adds the capability to arm/disarm your stock alarm, as
well as roll down your windows or roll up your windows and close the
sunroof.

Basically, the module fakes out the signals your stock alarm receives from
the microswitches in your lock tumblers. Press the unlock button once, and
the alarm disarms. Press it a second time, and the doors unlock. Hold it
down, and your windows roll down. Likewise, press the lock button once to
lock your doors and arm the alarm; hold it down to roll up your windows
(and close the sunroof if it's open). The windows roll up/down for as long
as you hold down the button and stop as soon as you let go--just like when
you hold the key in the lock/unlock position in the lock cylinder.

The module also has provisions for flashing your lights when
arming/disarming, but I didn't want to mess with that. (VW isolates right
side lights from the left side, and Autoloc's unit provides a single output.
I didn't want to go find a SPDT relay to do it right, so I skipped it.) The
module also has provisions for popping your hatch/trunk, but you'll have to
add your own relay. Again, this was more involved then I wanted to get, so
I skipped it. If I get bored enough, I may dig back into it and actually
make use of these features.

Installation was pretty straightforward. I took my sweet time and did it in
about 3 hours. Most folks could probably do it in 45 minutes to an hour.
(Like I said, I took my time.) I mounted the receiver module and included
relay behind the panel just below the steering wheel, (bolted to the metal
plate behind the panel) and snaked the antenna wire up between the dash and
the door so it could gain "visibility" to the outside world through the
windshield. The hardest part was getting at the wiring harness that goes to
the door and splicing in the wires. Simple concept, but not much room or
slack in the wires to do the work. (a.k.a. PITA.)

The Autoloc module works as advertised, and I'm quite happy with it. Now my
old-timer VR6 has remote keyless activation just like the new-fangled cars
kids are driving these days, AND I can roll my windows up and down via
remote. ;)

I've got one. It's not an alarm though. It just connects the remote to
the door locks. When I push a button on the remote the car thinks that
a key is in the door.

Button 1 - hold to open windows with the factory alarm still on
Button 2 - unlock and disarm, hold to open windows
Button 3 - lock and arm, hold to close windows and sunroof

It took about an hour to install including discussing how it and why it
was worth $140 (I think) and all that crap with my then fiancée. I
could do it in about 20-30 minutes if I was left alone. It's a half
dozen wires in the kick panel next to the fuse panel. The controller
module is about the size of a wallet and is zip tied to the bottom of
the fuse panel. This has actually caused some problems. During an
autocross the plastic fuse panel cover fell down and wedged itself
around the clutch and brake. I was not impressed. I also think that
the module is somehow pulling on the wires between the firewall and fuse
panel causing my stereo issues. I have to give it a little nudge with
my left foot when my radio loses power. All other accessories are fine.

I LOVE the remote windows and would definitely do this again. Whatever
car I buy next will get a similar mod right away.

I have the same kit, which I got used for 100 shipped. Good deal for keyless entry, but it doesn't have crap
for range, and half the time I use it my windows go down. I've checked all the connections 4 times and
everything is legit, and since autoloc is no good at being around for my questions, I'm dealing with it.

When it is working correctly, the remote power windows is money. People do double takes!
