If the dealer says 3 hours, that's bullsh*t. I've removed my VDO cluster,
partially disassembled it, reassembled it, and reinstalled it in probably about
30 minutes. The procedure is outlined in Bentley's, but I kinda remember it.
Basically, you first have to remove the plastic trim piece that's around the
steering wheel - it's held on by 2 screws in the bottom. Then you have to
remove the headlight switch, and the plastic panel on the opposite side of the
cluster. This will allow you to get to 2 screws that hold the trim on around
the cluster. ...When you've removed the trim, then you can get to the 2 more
screws that hold the cluster in. You remove those, and the cluster tilts out.
You can then unsnap the 2 wiring harnesses, and you're home free!

Sorry - I know that's vague - I don't have my Bentley's handy, and I'm going by
memory.

be careful with the "quick nuts" or whatever those things that let you hold
something in a bigger hole....one of mine fell in the dash and i have yet to
find it...
