Compass

For those of you that would like a compass in your car but who've only found the AirGuide and other such pieces of junk (with no night wiring), you might try what I've installed a Nexus (Silva) 70B.

I also have a Wink panoramic mirror....I stuck the mounting bracket just above the mount for the original center rear-view mirror (removed when I installed the Wink) and wired the red LEDs into the the hot wire for the sun roof.  The LEDs are always on, but they draw negligible current.

I got my Nexus from Defender Industries (an East coast discount marine mail-order house, 800-628-8225) for about $80.  However, they no longer appear to carry it.  They could probably order it if you bug them.  You can see the compass, get specs from http://www.nex-marine.com/ and http://www.silvamarine.com/
The compass is designed for motorboats, so it should take the punishment of being in a car.  I've had it for a year, no prob.  The card tilts nicely with cornering/acceleration/braking forces.  It will hang up at about 45 MPH and above through a cloverleaf, but come back as soon as you straighten out.
