i own a flash red 95 gti vr6 and had my side skirts painted about 3 years
ago. none of them have chipped except my euro front spoiler because of
scrapes. my paint guy soaked the pieces first to remove all waxes/armour
all crap. then he used a plastic primer and then the paint. no chips what so
ever. you can check the car out on 7/5 outside the waterfest event. or
just ask arthur.

A lot of people have emailed me asking for the input I've received on
this since yesterday's email.

I guess our library doesn't have much info on this. The following is the
best one I've received so far and since this dude's sideskirts hasn't
chipped in 8 months, I think it's a good method.

Andy you might want to put this on the library?

I left the username out. If he doesn't mind his name associated with this
then let the list know.

I have painted my side skirts. I sanded them all down, scotch brite pad'd
them, used a flexible bonding clear adhesive, and then the normal spray on
with a professional paint gun type of paint. No additives were in the
paint, it was just the same paint that you would should a car with, with
the exception of the clear coat. They have not chipped off yet (8 months)
and it was the best mod I have done so far as far as appearance. Makes
the car look hammered..

Thanks

Cool. Andy you might also want to add this to what I posted from Matt
before:
------------
I took the skirts off before I paint em...you really have to. I also took
the rear bumper off to paint the underpart of that...its all one piece.
Take the bumper off, flip it upside down, and there you go..I spent about
$50 on paint, flex bonding clear, and all the other shit that I needed.
Makes a huge difference looks wise.

Thanks
