Hi everyone, Chris Collier here,
I have successfully updated the look of my Turbo Jetta by installing
the European front bumper. I was delayed a little because I had to
relocate the charcoal canister, and move the rec/dryer back a little
so that I would have a place for my oil cooler; the driver's side of
the car is taken up by an IC.
The installation went GREAT ! ! ! !
When beginning this transformation, I had read issues with the fitment
of the bumpers, especially when it comes to the gap between the bumper
and the front fenders; well I am here to report that mine fit EXACTLY
like the factory bumper...I am not trying to brag, and I don't want
to make light of those VeeDub members that get frustrated at the
fitment....I merely wanted to report that it IS possible.
I am running the European Core/Rebar, MKIV smoked lights and Italian
Euro Bumper. I am temporarily running modified NA blinkers until mine
come in from Europe; still awaiting my clear blinkers, lower grilles
and VR6 chin.(Don't worry Ross, I got some for you too)
I DO however have a question about the fender liner....in fact mine
is rubbing my 17's when I turn sharply.
The fender liners don't seem to fit the European Bumpers all that
well, and I wanted to know if I would benefit from installing European
Fender liners????
I would post pictures, but my FK badgeless grille is not in yet,
and the car looks WAAAAYYYY ghetto with no lip, AND no grille.
If people are interested in seeing the fender/bumper gap, I will send
them some pictures, just email me and let me know.
