Finally got off the badges except for the front and rear vw symbols.
Are these clip ons or glued? I almost tore my grill off trying to get
the front one off. Really don't want to make that expensive mistake. I
need ya'lls expert advice.

The grill VR6 is a clip on, the clpis are on the top edge
at the far back, simple press down and it pops out.

Actually, I think he's talking about the V-Dub badges.

THe front grill VW badge can be removed more easily if you remove the grill
first. It's gonna leave a hole, so you probably want to invest in a
badgeless grill from Bonrath...(Check the recent messages for a web
page...) I'm in the process of replacing my grill (Father's Day present)

The rear VW badge can be removed, but it's tricky and it leaves a
depreasion. Try using dental floss to cut through the glue. You might be
able to fill the depression with something and match the paint. I've also
seen an ABT badge that you can put in the depression...

Good luck.

You must remove the grille to remove the front VW badge. The rear is glued
on, simply (and carefully) pop it off with a screwdriver.

The rear VW badge is NOT glued on but held in place with two plastic pins in
nylon friction fittings. Pry it up very carefully or you will snap the pins
off.

I do believe that Jeffrey is referring to the chrome *VW* badge, the round
thing that sits just below the rear wiper arm. It's held on by two plastic
clips that will most likely break when you remove it to paint it, as mine
did. A little crazy glue on the two contact points and it goes back on just
fine.
The black foam double-stick tape is used to hold on the VR6 and GTI badges
on the lower right, just below the taillight. All badges can be removed by
gently prying them off with a plastic putty knife. The residual tape can be
removed with a little Goo Gone or WD-40.

Everyone got that? :-p

The rear VW badge is attached with foam double sided tape. You
can remove just the VW symbol that attaches by fitting into
two holes, paint it and put some dabs of superglue on the ends
to reattach it. I had this version for a while and then ordered a
black front and rear VW badge from Mike Potter.

The rear VW badge is attached to a black piece of plastic that
is attached to the car with double sided foam tape. When
Mike sent me my black badges, the rear badge was installed by removing
the old badge, cleaning off the old foam tape in the
recessed area of the hatch and sticking on the new badge.

Pull. Remove any adhesive left behind with WD-40, bug & tar remover, or
similar.

Heat it up a bit with a hair dryer and it should come off clean.
Mine just pulled right off after being in the sun for a few hours.

Try Josh's yank method, or get some dental floss (mint, cherry, etc ;-) and
saw across the adhesive, pulling slightly against the badge.
