Hello,

I am one of the folks who has experienced the failure of the A/C hose where it
passes over the fan shroud.  Over time, a hole is worn into the hose and lets
all the R134a escape.  VW quoted me a mega buck repair (and wouldn't admit
that there is a design flaw here..).

I have successfully spliced the hose and had the system evacuated, recharged,
and lubricated.  Nice cold A/C now!!  For about 10 times less than the VW fix!

Just have to wait and see if the splice will hold....
