I've recently noticed that, on the driver's side of my '96 VR6, the
carpet is constantly damp (in front AND in rear). I'm guessing this is
due to some type of water infiltration (the passenger side is always
dry)...

I will get this checked out soon, but I think someone on the list
experienced this a while back... any luck getting this fixed ? What
was the cause ?

Thanks,
Nic.

Hey Tom,
Sounds like your drain is clogged. Punch out the little flap on
the firewall foil to allow it to open and drain. This thing will hold
about 7 gallons before it pees on the floor.

Mine did that, hugh puddles in the floors, especially the rear seats.
Turn out that the drain for the A/C can undone at the firwewall.
The tech said its pretty commmon. They fixed it and replaced the
carpet and the under pad. No questions asked! -tommy

It's the lower one. The one closest to the exhaust header.

It is the cut out just to the left and above of the exhaust manifold,
the cut out is shaped like a tongue. You can lift it up with a little
help of a flat head screwdriver. After lifting up you can feel with your
finger underneath for a little rubber cap and lift it up to reveal the
hole. Mine was on tight so I just popped it loose. Don't worry about
loosing the cap cuz it has a rubber tether attached to the fire wall.
Now any a/c water condensation should be able to push the cap out to
release water just by the weight of the water. Hope that helps

Hey Andy,

sorry for the late reply, just wanted to thank you for the info- it really
helped!

By the way, that firewall material is some nasty fiberglass shit, because
after I worked on the thing, I had all nasty glass fibers stuck in my
fingers!

maybe we should put a warning in the archives? :)

thanks again
